Our history

Between Toulon and Saint Tropez, in the pretty commune of La Londe Les Maures, discover Château la Valetanne. Surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, tall pines and ancient cork oaks, the red schist soil extends over 14 hectares. A ruin on the estate bears witness to Château la Valetanne’s distant winegrowing heritage.

The rebirth of the winery...

The genesis

Considerable work was undertaken to modernize the winery and vineyards in the 2000s, enabling the estate to produce its own high-quality wines.

From the first harvest to prestigious tables

Harvesting

The first harvest was a real revelation, with
offering an enchanting rosé, a sublime white and a red of rare elegance.
Today, the domaine’s wines can be found on the menus of prestigious restaurants such as L’Hôtel Royal in Evian, l’univers Bocuse in Lyon, La Villa Belrose in Gassin and French embassies around the world.

The history of the “Côtes de Provence” appellation dates back to 1895.
It wasn’t until 1977, however, that the local winegrowers succeeded in elevating “Côte de Provence” to the rank of Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC), thus consecrating an exceptional savoir-faire.

A terroir marked by centuries

History and origins of the estate

photo du domaine

The Domaine de La Valetanne lies on land rich in history, marked by human occupation as far back as Gallo-Roman times. Archaeological remains, including millstones, dolias and amphorae, indicate that in the 1st and 2nd centuries, these lands were already being used to grow cereals, vines and oil. These rural settlements may have been “fundi”, agricultural estates equipped with wine presses, vats and cellars, characteristic of the Pax Romana. Similar installations have been uncovered on neighboring estates, attesting to the region’s ancient winegrowing heritage.
